FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
All Nurme Cosmetics shampoos have pure ingredients, do not contain silicones, parabens or synthetic fragrances or dyes. Therefore, they are also ideal for uncolored and / or curly hair. If necessary, we recommend using Nurme hair conditioners. Nurme shampoos / conditioners are also suitable for use by children. As shampoos / conditioners contain essential oils, we recommend that babies use an odorless baby shampoo specially developed for babies.
The use of essential oils is very wide – they can be used in aroma lamps / diffusers for room scenting and / or aromatherapy, added to bath water, in a massage oil, creams, etc. You can read a comprehensive overview of the use and effects of essential oils in our blog post – What is essential oil and how to use it?
Nurme products have not been tested on animals. All our products have the international mark “cruelty free”.
Most Nurme products are suitable for vegans. There are only a few exceptions among the products: for example goat’s milk soap and face soap containing goat’s milk powder, lip balms and deodorants containing beeswax.
Nurme Cosmetics stopped using palm oil in cosmetic products in 2017, although the oil used before it had a sustainable palm oil certificate. The only product that we have not been able to replace palm oil in is the solid shampoo with hemp seed oil, which is popular on the Finnish market. We repeatedly tried to replace palm oil, but unfortunately the product’s properties suffered so much that we raised our hands and stuck to the recipe that was developed in 2012. Since Nurme’s product range includes a total of 5 solid shampoos, the customer always has the opportunity to choose another product. Each product has its own life cycle and one day the popularity of solid shampoo with hemp oil will end. Nurme’s principle remains that the products we develop and bring to the market are always palm oil-free.
Aluminum is a deodorant component that blocks sweating, but everything we lubricate on our skin is absorbed by our body, and aluminum is certainly not the metal our body loves.
Nurme products contain antiperspirant components such as essential oils and baking soda, which prevent the smell from spreading. Sweat itself is absorbed by cornstarch. Sweating is a natural and necessary process for the body!
As Nurme deodorant does not eliminate sweating but the components neutralize the odor and absorb sweat, it is effective as long as the user feels comfortable. A person with heavier sweat should use the deodorant to refresh during the day. Thus, the efficacy may not be as high as for deodorants containing aluminum compounds, but is much safer for the body in the long run. The choice of exfoliator depends primarily on the skin type. For more sensitive and convex skin, soft exfoliators should be preferred to avoid irritating the delicate skin by rubbing the skin with mechanical particles. For all other skin types, ie. dry, normal, combination and oily, it’s ideal to use both gentle (enzyme) and exfoliating peelers. When using face scrubs, be sure to use gentler scrubs. Nurme body scrubs contain sugar or sea salt, which is a bit too hard for peeling facial skin. Therefore, we do not recommend Nurme body scrubs for exfoliating facial skin.
